A Collaborative Learning Culture for Professional Development

We've got lots of good stuff happening at CA.  I am interested in exploring ways for teachers to learn from each other in a collaborative learning culture.

Take a look at these videos from Teachingchannel.org for some examples:

Innovation in a Makerspace

Innovation in a Makerspace

What if the computer labs or part of the libraries became a Makerspace?

The space could include tools, benches, work stations and floor space for project-based learning, problem-solving and inquiry. I envision the maker space containing iPads, desktop computers, 3-D printers, Legos, hand tools, power tools, building materials, sewing machines, art supplies etc.

A Makerspace could be reserved for classroom extension activities or be used for stand alone elective classes.

There would be an immediate impact in Science, Math, Computer Science, Art, Drama and Music across all three divisions. The space could also be utilized for CASE, Summer Programs, Science Olympiad, Robotics.
